Trained in classical piano, she later expanded into interdisciplinary artistic practices across performance and sound.
Marisol Jiménez (Objekte, Elektronik): Marisol Jiménez is a composer, performer and multi-disciplinary artist from Guadalajara, Mexico currently residing in Berlin. Her work expresses an intense fascination with the tactile process of creating sound, an interplay of the entropic within the structured musical machinery, colliding the primeval with the technological to seek forceful sensuous and visceral energies. Most of her works involve self-made sound sculptures, found objects, and collected sound materials from her own field recordings, improvisations, and performances.
Ilia Viazov (Baßblockflöte, Feedback): Composer, sound artist, and recorder player was born in Voronezh, Russia in 1999. At 16, he began his professional musical education at the Voronezh Music Academy as a bassoon player and then continued it at the Gnesin Family Music Academy in Moscow. He then attended the Moscow Conservatory and studied composition with Vladimir Tarnopolsky and Yuri Kasparov and electroacoustics with Nikolay Khrust and Alexey Nadzharov. Due to the actions of the Russian government and the war with Ukraine, he left his home country in October 2022. In October 2024, he continued his studies at Musikhochschule Lübeck as Bachelor in Composition and Sound Art.

Elena Kakaliagou (Horn) Elena Kakaliagou is a French horn player working across contemporary music, improvisation, and interdisciplinary art. Her musical path began with classical piano and horn studies in Greece, followed by formal education in Austria (B.Mus.) and Finland (MA.).Through this ongoing search, Elena developed a personal musical language influenced by contemporary classical music, free jazz, free improvisation, folk and pop traditions, as well as collaborations with dance, theatre, and visual arts. Based in Berlin since 2010, Elena works as a freelance musician throughout Europe and beyond. Her distinctive horn sound can be heard on more than 20 releases, including her duo Nabelóse and trio Zinc & Copper, as well as in theatre productions, radio pieces, and film soundtracks, including the Academy Award–winning soundtrack of The Brutalist.
Morris Kliphuis (Horn): Morris Kliphuis (1986) is a Berlin-based composer and improvising Horn player. He rose to fame as founder member of the award-winning trio Kapok, a group that mixed elements of punk, rock and free improvisation. A virtuoso on the French horn, an instrument strongly associated with classical orchestral music, Kliphuis is one of the few players in the world dedicated to exploring it’s potential in improvised, experimental and cross-genre settings.
Abigail Sanders (Horn): Abigail Sanders (born 1987, Hastings) is a horn player, improviser, composer and researcher. Her work focuses on the cultural relationship between humans and animals, in particular on the transcription and performance of humpback whale songs in her artistic research project ‘Sounding Whales’. She is currently completing a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Music Research focussing on Human-Animal Studies at Nuremberg University of Music. As a hornist she specialises in contemporary classical music and improvisation. She has performed with, among others, Ensemble Musikfabrik, Ensemble Mosaik, and the KAPmodern Ensemble.

Julian Schenk (Kontrabaß): Based in Berlin, Julian Schenk works as a musician and sound engineer across education, live and studio performance. With a background in instrumental performance at University of Arts and ongoing studies in Audio Communication at TU Berlin, his practice moves between musicianship and sound technology. At the core of his work is an intuitive relationship with whatever instrument or technology a situation calls for while remaining attentive to the acoustic qualities of everyday and ancient musical objects. Through this approach, he explores sound as an interconnected and living instrument, inviting listeners to experience the balance between musical expression and sound design.
Johannes Heidelk (Klarinette, Elektronik): Johannes Heidelk verbindet unter dem Alias „Hanni Elk“ Klarinette mit Liveelektronik zu Ambient, Experimental und elektronischer Tanzmusik. Improvisation begleitet Johannes Heidelk seit geraumer Zeit durch verschiedene Genres. Founder and Artistic Director of the Threshold Collective in Berlin. Organizer of music festivals, contrabassoonist in Berlin’s independent music scene, and an avid long-distance hiker in the wilderness. Currently struggling through the final act of "Silksong."
The "Klang Büro" event seeks to recapture the adventurous spirit of the 60s and 70s: a time when everything seemed possible and the future could be created anew with fresh thinking and bold new ideas. Anything was possible: new forms of music, of performance, of art were all possible and needed only imagination and a spirit of experimentation to bring to fruition. From this time period we have a repertoire of "graphic scores" that ask the performers to create music in real time, partially improvising, partially open to new and unexpected influences.
This mini-festival will present some of the most captivating graphic scores of the "historical" avant-garde of the 60s and 70s, alongside new works by living artists. Some of the "composers" are visual artists, poets, sculptors, but we are not interested here in debates over categories of art. Rather, we are interested in the possibilities of what music can be when it exists beyond categories, when we discard expectations about how to perform music or what "counts" as correct or "real" music. This event explores the frontier of the 60s and 70s as a utopian ideal: the Klang Büro is an independent research institute for discovery and innovation, creating the music of the future, today.
